26 Week Bump

It’s called expecting, even though you have no idea what to expect.

Hopefully, you cannot see how bruises up my arms are because I definitely look like a heroin addict right now. The 3-hour blood glucose test was brutal yesterday to say the least. After a long fast, drinking twice the syrup as the first test for breakfast, and a quick lunch, I was a sick, shaky mess all afternoon. I was so glad to wake up today and finally feel like my normal self, so I can bring you this week’s bump shot.

How Far Along: 26 Weeks

Total Weight Gain: 25 pounds

Food Cravings: Pei Wei hit the spot this weekend! They have the best tofu, and I love the rice noodles they use in their Pad Thai. One order is usually the gift that keeps on giving with their ginormous serving sizes.

What I Miss: Even though Halloween is weeks away, I know I am going to miss all the goodies involved. From caramel apples to fun sized candy, it is going to be tough to resist.

Symptoms: Monday was filled with bad news this week. I found out that I am anemic and that my glucose levels were high from my first test. Keeping my fingers crossed that a daily iron supplement and a more thorough glucose test will fix the problems.

Baby Movement: I feel him move on a regular basis now, but Chris is yet to feel the baby move. I am hoping this is the week for him to finally feel his little one.

Maternity Attire: My dress selection has been cut in half. With temperatures in the 50s this weekend, I am in drastic need of some pants. Thankfully, Gap had a 35% off promotion this week!

Hurl Factor: The thought of eating red meat makes me want to hurl. Hopefully, I am able to find enough high iron substitutes because there is no way I am going Bella-style and drinking straight blood.

Annoyances: Having my blood drawn five times this week was pretty annoying, but it will be worth it in the end to make sure that the baby is getting the proper nutrients.

Weekly Highlight: My friend, Abby, found out that she was having a boy too. It will be so fun having little guys the same age that can get into trouble at K-State tailgates.

Do you know anyone affected by gestational diabetes?

Hurray for baby boys!!! I’m glad you’re about 8 weeks ahead of me…that way you can tell me what to expect :) Sorry about all the bad news :( I was severely anemic before we got pregnant, so i’ve been on an iron supplement for a super long time. Our doctor said to keep taking them…and i’ve heard that the second trimester is when most mom’s become anemic anyways!! Only bad thing…they sure don’t help with the whole bathroom issue :)

I’m so excited to have our first play date! It is going to be here before we know it. One more pill to take every morning is not that bad to fix the the anemic problem. Glad it was a simple solution!
