Sally’s Pins

Work hard! Do whatever it takes to stand out from others. Don’t ever think it’s a slam dunk. Learn something new every day. It’s not easy, but if you want it, you must work for it. Stay positive and take everything as a lesson for the future.

MARISSA WEBB

Thank you Christopher Columbus for discovering America and giving me an extra day off each year as a bank employee. If only my husband was lucky enough to have the day off too, so I could spend this chilly day cuddling with him and the puppies. I guess I will go shopping instead to stock up on some warmer clothes, but first, here is this week’s edition of Sally’s Pins:

Twice-Baked Pesto Mashed Potatoes: I love me some pesto and twice-baked potatoes, so the marriage of these two delicacies has to be a winner.

Wall Frame Gallery: White frames are my go-to choice these days to help brighten the room. I love the combination of the same frames and all black and white photos used in this wall frame gallery.

Slow Cooker Quinoa Chicken Chili: Quinoa could not be a more perfect grain, so why not use it to beef load up your chili. This is hearty to the max!

DIY Gold Leaf Paper Mache Bowls: My jewelry would love to lie in these beautiful gold leaf bowls. I just adore the polka dot accents too.

Rosemary Sea Salt Pretzel with Rosemary Cheddar Cheese Sauce: Pretzels and cheese are my game day guilty pleasure. Adding rosemary to the mix makes it feel more adult-like and gourmet.

Top 10 Fall & Winter Soups: Oklahoma is experiencing colder temps this week and people are going crazy to make their first batches of soup. There was literally one can of chili beans left at the grocery store Friday night. For those feeling festive, here are some great recommendations.

Homemade Girl Scout Cookies – Samoas Bars: I have to admit that Thin Mints are not my favorite Girl Scout Cookie. I am more of a Samoas girl, so I can’t wait to be able to make a batch of my own.

Pumpkin Doughnuts: I wonder how many days a week I need to eat pumpkin to be truly satisfied. With so many ingenious ideas, I could probably get away with eating it everyday.

German Chocolate Cupcakes: Wow! This is a cupcake at its finest. Just look at the proportion of toppings to cake. Yummy!!!

Tie Fleece Dog Bed: On a cold fall day, my pups would love to snuggle up on one of these beds. I might try using this technique to cover some of older, beat up ones.

Jalapeno Pepper Jack Cornbread Bites: Sometimes cornbread can end up being so dry, but not when it is filled with melted Pepper Jack Cheese! This local Oklahoma blogger has so many great recipes to check out.

How to follow Weight Watchers for Free: Weight Watchers is such an amazing program, but it can be expensive to stay on long term. I totally recommend trying it first with them, but this is a great idea for the maintenance phase.

Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate Mix: I am always on the hunt for perfect/easy gift to pass out to friends and family. Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate Mix would be such an easy option to have on hand.

Sprinkle Cake: I love the idea of spelling out the age in sprinkles rather than gaudy number candles. The sprinkles are so bright and cheerful too!

Biggest Loser Oatmeal Pancakes: This is the perfect weekend treat! Plus it is starchy and guilt-free if you have had too many calories the night before.

Have you found any Biggest Loser recipes you like?
