Sally’s Pins
The trick is to enjoy life. Don’t wish away your days, waiting for better ones ahead.
MARIJORIE PAY HINCKLEY
This weekend I celebrated my last hurrah before the baby. I can’t travel much the last month of my pregnancy and my other weekends are quickly filling up with showers and family time, so this was my last chance to get away and celebrate with my girl friends. That is just what we did after a wonderful Kansas State victory. Now I am on to watching the coverage of Sandy barreling into the east coast, and praying that family and friends stay safe during the storm. For those of you stuck inside, here is this week’s edition of Sally’s Pins.
Pumpkin Decorating Ideas: If you are still scrambling to get some pumpkins on your porch before the trick-or-treaters arrive, check out some of these great decorating ideas. Next year I’m making a Kansas pumpkin for sure.
Peanut Butter Monster Cookies: Can’t get enough peanut butter? Try this twist on the classic monster cookies for an extra nutty treat.
Holiday Card Solution: What to do with all those Christmas cards? Make them people’s contact photos for when they call you. That way you can enjoy them all year.
Marshmallow Caramel Popcorn: For my next movie night, I am making this gooey, sweet treat! Kind of hoping that night’s tonight.
Looking Good While Pregnant: ”What to Wear During Pregnancy” Broken Down by Trimester. This guide helped me think out of the box when putting together outfits.
Apple Upside-Down Cake: Apples have been such a dear friend to me during my pregnancy, so it is only natural to spread the love to dessert options too and swap the pineapple.
Metal Provencal Planter: I love these outdoor galvanized planters. Their simple design really showcases the floral arrangements.
Gold Leaf Pumpkins: I am all about the gold these days, and I love this option because it could dress up your porch all season long.
Bacon, Egg, and Toast Cups: How cute are these? You could also try cooked, crumbled sausage in place of bacon or make a vegetarian version with sauteed spinach. Yum!
Oversized Initial Balloons: Gold lettering on large balloons is a great swap for a party banner, and they make a much bigger impact as decorations.
Bath Mat as Car Seat Protector: Protect your car seats from muddy paws by covering them with a bath mat or two before packing the pups in the backseat. The rubber bottom will help the mat stay in place. Between trips, stow the mat in the trunk. (and if you get a flat tire it’s great to kneel on do you don’t get dirty!)
Tinsel Wreath: Swap in black or orange tinsel, and you have a festive Halloween wreath. It looks so easy, there is no excuse not to do it.
Statement Necklace + All Black: Black is my friend these days with my ever increasing size. I love the idea of jazzing it up with a statement necklace.
Crock Pot Orange Chicken: After some disappointing rounds of Crock Pot chicken recipes, I’m hoping this one will change my mind. It’s already go tone leg up since it’s much healthier than the fried version.
Holiday Photo: I adore the holiday photos with families dripping in Christmas lights, but I think I like the animal version a little more.
What has been your favorite idea for a holiday photo?
