Bacon Wrapped Deer Tenderloin

People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas.

UNKNOWN

We are heading to our last Christmas celebration today! Whoot! Whoot! Since we have a three-hour drive, it gives me plenty of time to share some highlights from our Christmas day gathering.

I don’t know who was so good this year, but there sure were a lot of presents. It surely could not have been me.

From the smell to the decorations, walking into the house, Christmas hit me right in the face. We used dishes passed down from my grandmother, and she did a lovely job setting the table.

There was food…even though I only assisted with some Roasted Brussels Sprouts. Some of us were more excited to eat than others.

We had an unusual layout of food this year. What comes to my mom’s mind when she thinks of Christmas…Goose. Apparently, she seems to think that it is the most proper thing to serve.

You couldn’t get me to touch that meat with a ten foot pole, but there was someone willing to assist this year. I might add, an extremely handsome person at that.

Chris spent hours in a tree stand to bring home a deer for Christmas. Then with the help of my brother, he whipped up some…

Bacon Wrapped Deer Tenderloin

Ingredients:

3 cups brown sugar

2 cups soy sauce

1 package bacon

6 deer tenderloin steaks

Directions:

1. Mix brown sugar and soy sauce. Marinate steaks for 5 to 6 hours.

2. Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees. Wrap steaks in bacon and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.

3. Pull out of oven. Sear bacon wrapped steaks in skillet.

4. Enjoy!

There is no need to worry. Even though most of the family members are crazy carnivores, there was also plenty of food to please the semi-vegetarians in the house. I dove into the sweet potato, onions au gratin, Brussels sprouts, and scallops.

But my most favorite thing I ate this Christmas, was the Goat Cheese Soufflé. Holy smokes, it was out of this world. The cheese filled pastry just melted the minute I put it in my mouth.

Then for dessert, I went straight for the bread pudding. Why not have some rum soaked bread to go along with some wine?

We had a glorious feast, followed by family time and presents. There was not one present that my mom opened, that she didn’t squeal in delight for.

The rest of us were more cautious when opening our presents.

It is okay Tommy. There is no reason to be alarmed. It is just a belt.

At least Chris seemed to like all of his gifts.

He even gave his decoy an Awkward Hug. What a wonderful night!

What was your favorite thing about Christmas this year?
