Sally’s Pins

Sometimes it is better to be kind than to be right. We do not need an intelligent mind that speaks, but a patient heart that listens.

I am thanking my lucky stars right now that I am only four months pregnant during the hottest time of the summer. I have changed my entire schedule to make sure it involves being in the air conditioning at all times. Going to creative extremes, my friend Carlie and I check out the Museum of Osteology this weekend.

The skeleton in the picture is from a sperm whale that was cleaned during an episode of “Dirty Jobs.” Even though my expectations were low for the museum, I was pleasantly surprised by how enlightening the experience was.

Avoiding the heat for the rest of the weekend, I discovered many more creative things on Pinterest. Here is this week’s edition of Sally’s Pins:

Olympic Sugar Cookies: Watching the Olympics is a fun tradition to look forward too, and why not celebrate and go all out with Olympic theme cookies? Not only are these cookies adorable, but they are super easy to make.

Red Lacquer Petal Mirror: I have been on the hunt a mirror with the perfect cutout frame. I love the design of this mirror, and it is one of the cheaper ones I have found.

31 Days to an Organized Home: It is amazing what a little organization can do to boost your mood. Spreading it out over a whole months sounds like the perfect time frame to get some things done!

Chevron Nursery Print: I might have to get all of these. They are all so cute, I am having trouble narrowing it down to one.

Coconut Caramel Drizzle Pie: Coconut Pie is decadent on its own, but when it is topped with a caramel drizzle it has got to be out this of this world.

Color Scheme: These pastel colors mixed with gold sparkle make such a fun color combination. They would be perfect to use when bringing an outfit together or even in a nursery.

Bookcase Benches: Turn two bookcases on their side and use baskets in the shelving for toys. It is such a simple idea with so much storage. This would be perfect for a playroom.

Cheese and Bacon Potato Rounds: In college, there was a restaurant my friends and I always went to that we had to order a round of potato skins. With potato on my mind, I will have to try this recipe and see if it compares.

Purple Ikat Chair: Doesn’t this purple ikat chair just make the room? It’s amazing what a fun pattern can do to improve an overall look.

Rolo Stuffed Snickerdoodles: Biting into a snickerdoodle and having caramel ooze out is my dream come true. I love when there is a little surprise in my cookies.

Stone Mosaic Planter: These planters would add curb appeal to any home. They are so charming a delightful, letting the flowers be the standout feature.

100 Running Songs: Don’t you hate when you’re running and a song with a slower tempo comes on? With over 100 songs to pick from this is a sure way to keep up the momentum in your workout.

Fleet Little Fox Nursery Room: You don’t see this color combination often, but it has such a fun energy to it. I was drawn to the painted furniture and bright upholstery.

Website for Budget Friendly Rugs: Rugs can end up being one of the most expensive purchases in a room. The Shades of Light website has so many rugs to pick from at amazing prices.

Wedding Party Sign: This sign makes me laugh. I love anything that involves “Cuttin’ A Rug.” I need to have one of these signs at my next party.

Where’s your favorite place to cut a rug?
