Sally’s Pins

All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.

WALT DISNEY

Guess what time it is? It is time for Sunday’s edition of Sally’s Pins. I bet you were totally thinking the 2012 Academy Awards. Movies link us all together. Some people say they do not have enough time to read books, but everyone makes time to see movies. They are such a wonderful break from reality.

Favorite 2012 Academy Award Winner: Octavia Spencer’s win made me cry with joy. What an amazing performance for such a well-written book.

Funniest Quote about 2012 Academy Awards: “Stacey Kiebler is actin like she’s getting a ring soon and it’s making me uncomfortable” Whitney Cummings

Triple Threat: Gwyneth Paltrow can do no wrong…act, sing, and show up looking hot! Only she can pull off a cape at the Oscars.

Standout Style: Another one of my favorites “G”s is Giuliana Rancic in this hot little number. Check out those sleeves. Fashion Police approved.

Curry Shrimp with Spicy Mango Quinoa: Look at those huge chunks of mango! What an amazing pairing.

Seasonal Eating: After reading The Kind Life diet I absolutely agree with eating foods that are in season. The faster you can take the food from the ground to your plate, the better.

10 Lessons In Female Fat Loss: All of these lessons are very powerful. I have heard most of them from separate sources, so that’s got to mean there is something to them.

Blueberry Crumble Cake: This is the most drool-worthy thing I have seen all week. Crumble topping is the best!

Miso Salmon with Cucumber Salad: This salad looks so refreshing, and it will surely help me get ready for swimsuit season.

Outfit: Polyvore has such a wonderful website. I love seeing an outfit put together, where I have similar pieces in my own closet.

Interior Car Cleaning: Show me the way. My car needs some attention.

Leek, Pesto, and Ricotta Pie: I have no idea what this is, but I am pretty sure I could eat the whole thing. Yum!

Sprout Cupcakes: I cannot wait for Spring to officially start so I can make these cupcakes.

Closet Solutions: Hanging pants is the worst…unless you have one of these.

Pretzel Cookie: After dabbling in pretzel bites last week, I realized what a wonderful addition they make to all things dessert related.

Chris’ birthday is almost here. I am going to be so sad when the 28 Days of Chris is over. Here is a picture of my movie star and me.

Who was your favorite Academy Award winner?

Sally’s Pins

Sometimes I have to remind myself that I don’t have to do what everyone else is doing.

I love lazy Sundays, where I can spend the day cuddled up with my husband and pugs watching movies and playing on Pinterest. It is especially nice when it is freezing outside. It finally is starting to feel like winter here in Oklahoma. The weatherman said there should be snow when I wake up. We shall see, but for now here is my Sunday edition of Sally’s Pins:

1. Tip & Tricks: Little things that can be done around the house that will make all the difference. It’s kind of like the infomercial that you can do yourself!

2. Table Setting: What a unique idea for a menu to wrap everything together on the plate. It is such a modern twist to a classic table setting.

3. Laugh Out Loud: This picture makes me crack up! I have totally been there too little Chihuahua.

4. Outside Space: Boxwoods are one plant I can usually keep alive, and I just adore them in the large planters.

5. Must Have Shoes: Toms’ Ballet Flats came out this week, and I am dying to get this pair. They just look so comfortable.

6. Lasagna Stuffed Shells: I must try a vegetarian spin of this recipe. I’m drooling just looking at it.

7. Photo Shoot: I mentioned how much I liked The Notebook, but this couple went even further in recreating scenes from the movie. So creative!

8. Family Names Artwork: Scrabble is one of my favorite family games, so why not have it on display in my home too. Maybe I need to add a couple names to our family first though…

9. Marriage Advice: 10 Things that will make all the difference in a marriage. Got to keep it real.

10. The Color Run: This is a must do race. I mean what is better than finishing a race looking better than when you started?

11. Carmalized Onion, Mushroom & Gruyere Tartlets: I love trying new things, and I bet that these are as good as they look.

12. Antler Outlet: I think this is one thing we could agree on for our house.

13. Elephant Print: Elephants are one of my favorite animals, mainly because they make me feel small. I love the color combination and patterns in this print.

14. Heart in a cupcake: Is it that easy? Because I might have to try this…

15. Cake Topper: Can’t wait for my friends bachelorette party, so I can use this topper.

16. Bonus: Best Catch…that would be my husband…not the fish.

Did you see any snow today?

I mean, you see how picky I am about my shoes, and they only go on my feet.

CHER HOROWITZ; CLUELESS

Clueless is how I would describe myself as a new blogger. I have been dreaming about the day when I would meet like-minded bloggers to toss ideas around with. Well that day is coming. This Thursday, I have been invited to Oklahoma Bloggers Night Out.

I can’t hardly wait…okay enough with lines from my favorite 90s movies. For my weekly edition of Sally’s Pins, I wanted to share things I love from my fellow Oklahoma bloggers starting with…

1. Elleinad Spir: For my nightcap it would have to be a tasty dessert. I love this healthy option of frozen bananas with an ice cream consistency.

2. Working Closet: I love a good blazer, and I love this combination with the striped tee.

3. Gorillabuns: This blog had me cracking up over reminiscing over lost youth. Too funny!

4. Pineapple Lily Blog: When they posted about the best chocolate chip cookie recipe ever, I knew I needed to make it

5. Shop Crawlr: Being a newby to Oklahoma I need advice of fun places to shop. I just loved these Oklahoma themed tees.

6. I am a Greedy Girl: Is it Spring yet? I want this dress.

7. Feeding My Temple: I am a sucker for healthy living, so I am super excited to check out the great tips from this site.

8. Design Crush Blog: I tried kale chips my mom made me, and I can’t get over how tasty they are. What a great substitute for the unhealthy chip.

9. Allyson In Wonderland: I am so one sided. I love this demonstration showing a cardigan three ways.

10. Settling West: I broke down and bought some Chia Seeds. These are in my top 20 super foods category.

11. Evie S: I think oil paintings are so beautiful. The DIY self in me wants to try it out.

12. Pippin & Pearl: So we just got a new Anthropology and I didn’t know they had a clothing line for kids. This hat is so precious.

13. Me and My Shortloffs: Oklahoma City is coming a long way. I mean there is a professional basketball team here. Amaze!

14. Bella Vita Jewelry: The anticipation of Spring is killing me, and I want to buy all things in this color scheme.

15. Emery Jo: Why buy new furniture when you can make something even more amazing? I love the pop of fabric in this piece.

16. Stephanie Bice: It’s no surprise that I love food, so when there is legitimate restaurant recommendations, I get a little excited.

17. Jeremy & Kathleen: Can you say creative! I love this idea for office organization.

18. Mareks Musings: I couldn’t stop cracking up when I saw this post. DVRs are such a personal thing…and I don’t really want to admit what is on mine.

19. And Everything Nice Blog: Spring forward and get me into this look. I love every pop of color in this mood board.

20. Pencil Shavings Blog: Horizontal stripes are my interior design dream. This room is done perfectly.

21. Sassafrass 2.0: I want an indoor plant and after reading up on how simple it is to keep one up, I think I need to try it.

These bloggers are so inspirations. I feel so lucky to be invited to spend time with them.

On Super Bowl Sunday, here is a picture of my favorite athlete:

Do you know any local bloggers?

Sally’s Pins

If your presence can’t add value to my life your absence will make no difference.

UNKNOWN

My blog was started on a whim, as was choosing my domain name. When I realized that sallyspins.com was available, that was it. I liked that it could either be Sally Spins or Sally’s Pins.

Being that I am so indecisive, I always like a second opinion. My friends thought that Sally Spins was a better option because Pinterest was so fresh, and who knew how long it would be around…I think it is safe to say the Pinterest has taken over and will be around for awhile.

To celebrate my love of Pinterest, I wanted to start a Sunday edition of Sally’s Pins.

1. Food experiment: I don’t know how people come up with these ideas, but this is amazing. I wish someone had made me this when I was a kid.

2. Baby humor: those teeth are too funny! I can’t stop laughing when I look at this pic.

3. Apple pie spin: I love a good spin on a traditional idea. I think these would be so tasty, especially because the crust is my least favorite part of the pie.

4. Scarf organizer: My scarfs are in a basket now, and they are so unorganized. This looks super easy, and would make my closet much more organized.

5. Yearly photo: aging really creeps me out, but this would be a nice reference to see the process in work.

6. Healthy bar: get in my belly! I love an easy granola bar on the run, but I would love it even more if it was less processed.

7. Red pepper sauce: Classico makes the best red pepper sauce, but this option looks so creamy, I have to try it out.

8. Party food: I can’t get over how cute this presentation is. Everything is so tiny! I look indulgent food in bite size portions. Score!

9. Pug loaf: I stared at this picture for a good five minutes trying to figure out what was going on. I still don’t know.

10. Gold shoes: these are my must have shoes. I have worn out my current gold pair and these are my replacements.

11. Sunflower cupcakes: sunflowers make me happy, so do cupcakes…

12. Chevron rug: if a chevron pattern were in every room of my house, my life would be complete.

13. Yarn lanterns: okay this picture makes it look so easy. I must try it.

14. Lawrence: Oh, how I miss that town. This picture brings a smile to my face.

15. Dog crate: Doug would look so pretty with this pattern surrounding him, but really it would help to hide his ugly kennel.

Hope you guys enjoyed your pinning as much as I did this week.
